I’ve been writing for Seattle’s Best Coffee for a few years now. Working with Dave Estep from HL2, I’ve concepted and written posters and banners like these, as well as written copy for coffee bags, holiday gifts, and a whole lot of in-store signs about coffee and other sundries. Ask me the difference between Latin American and African coffees, because I know.
I worked on this spot while a creative director at HL2. The UW had already met its goals in terms of dollars, but wanted to increase the total number of donors. We realized that our competition was not another university, but other issues people care about – the environment, human rights, etc.. So we set out to find a way to show that a donation to the UW was a way to have an impact on causes you care about. Early focus groups showed that the idea of donating directly to specific UW programs was a powerful motivator so we got to work. Andrew Gall wrote the scripts and Matt Daniels and his team directed and shot the video. I sat around eating donuts and cracking jokes.
Dave Estep (Hl2) designed, and I wrote copy for, the first bottles of microbooze produced in Washington state since Prohibition. Very cool project to work on and it was great to see our names in Communication Arts. Naturally, it’s impossible to see the copy in this image, so let me know if you want to read the folksy copy, my subtle tribute to Rolling Rock, and to your good taste.
The assignment: create buzz at CES around the upcoming launch of Windows Home Server. The answer, The Center for Digital Amnesia Awareness. Shawn Herron and I came up with the concept, Diane Christensen designed the print components you see here and Shawn did the digital. I wrote them words and directed the magnificent Colby Chester.
Laura Urban Perry and Lisa Marie Ford were asked to put together the SingingFish Web site and they asked me to work on some voice copy and come up with a few weird Web videos to boot. You’ll be amazed to hear that I made this one by myself in a single afternoon. Yes, I know. Isn’t it though?
